Homestuck is Coming Back

spoilers ahead for homestuck and post canon, this includes talk of the dreaded epilogues

Return of the Great Site

so we are a recent homestuck fan, got into it 2 and a bit years ago now and read it through the unoffical homestuck collection, person running that has shown themself to be weird as hell sadly and took it down but there are forks and stuff AND the homestuck team is making the website actually useable and according to the NEW OFFICAL DISCORD is gonna have a big rerelease event soonish which we are hyped for and makes it clear why hussie was wanting the unoffical collection to stop, it using assests it does not own and taking away from the soon to be up and running site, which has also been said to have working flash games and animations again finally, likely all this is in preperation for the homestuck pilot so people that learn of homestuck through the animation can read the comic

The Pilot

honestly pretty excited for it, despite that it will probably be kinda bad, it will get new fans into the community (which will mostly be vizie fans but homestuck fans have always been insufferable anyway), it is a new version of the comic that i'm really interested to see how it does stuff like typing quirks without having constant text on screen, the casting is fun, and most important thing people seem to ignore: vizie herself is going to have next to no part in it and it is evne being created by a different team in australia (also even if it is THE WORST THING EVER it wont matter, the homestuck fandom is great at ignoring large parts of homestuck, such as my next topic)

The Epilogues

we started reading them recently...

currecntly at meat chapter 6 and candy chapter 3 but they are nowhere near as bad as people say, they are a hard read and put these scrunklies in horrible situations, but these horrible situations are things that make a ridiculous amount of sense for their character progression and (currently reading through meat) dirk controlling them, making shit fucked up for his personal gain and idea of how stuff should be. Outside of dirks control things are great too, callie realising that human gender is stupid and does not apply to their species is great, AND that leading to conversations with roxy that have them explore gender too is perfect, john and terezi being pushed together by ult callie is so interesting and really does feel like a glimpse into candy and callies narration trying to make terezi seem super fem and pretty instead of a cool butch so john will be more attracted to her is so fucked, candy being everyone just not caring about consequences anymore is wild and fucked up and its already fucked but i know is gonna get so much more fucked. mostly started reading the epilogues cause we had heard beyond canon was doing some cool interesting stuff and like the epilogues are beyond canons very important prologue but man, people should just suck it up and deal with their headcanons being incorrect and see some interesting fucked up character work and exploration of two different kinds of fucked up bad fanfics

Other Things

so the fruity rumpus asshole factory is a thing, a collection of offically partnered fanworks and a new offical forum which is so cool. there is new homestuck merch being made. andrew hussie is actually online again in the offical discord server (make sure youre finding the actual one btw and not the shitty fan one that hates the creators). beyond canon gets consistent updates that i cant wait to check out. hiveswap act 3 is still in progress probably, games take so long to make dude. so yeah, homestuck is back, its alive, hussie didnt kill it, they took a break cause the community fucking sucked to them and are now reviving it for new audiences, returning fans and those that have been here all along and i cant wait :3 -fran
